Four join EEOC suit against grocer

Four minority employees have been added to a federal lawsuit against grocer Albertsons, claiming they were subject to racial slurs, swastikas and pictures of lynchings while working at a distribution center in Aurora.

One employee, who is Hispanic, said he heard supervisors say "andele, andele" - Spanish for "hurry up" - into a company loudspeaker. A black man claims he and other blacks were called the N-word, along with names like "cotton picker," and told "the only good blacks or Hispanics were dead ones."

They also say they were discriminated against in work assignments and disciplinary actions because of their race.

A spokeswoman for Boise, Idaho-based Albertsons LLC, an investor group that acquired the company's Colorado operations from Albertsons Inc. in 2006, did not return phone calls Tuesday.

China Eats Crow Over Faked Photo Of Rare Antelope

One man, one car, one year...and a campaign to protect Tibetan antelope," he wrote on his blog describing the project.

Once nearly wiped out by poachers who made shawls from its wool, the chiru's numbers have increased in recent years, and the knobby-kneed bovid has emerged as a symbol of China's environmental-protection efforts. Yingying the Tibetan Antelope is one of the five official mascots of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Some antelope lovers knew from the start that something was wrong with Mr. Liu's photo. "I was really shocked when I first saw the photo," says Yang Xin, of the antelope protection group Green River. For starters, he says, many of the antelope in the picture appeared to be pregnant and there were no young with the herd. That was a tip-off because many antelope would have given birth before late June when the photo was supposedly taken.

Glenn Greenwald Is So Right It Hurts

Salon blogger Glenn Greenwald has nearly every quality I like in a man: he's pretty, smarter than me, righteous, and he hates both that Washington Post ass Richard Cohen and Gawker. Glenn's crusade against The Politico—they're in bed with Matt Drudge (Mmm! Tasty!) and their barrier-to-print is too low and therefore error-full—has become a war against the shallow right-wing internets newspaper-destroying conspiracy of which we are a part!

According to Glenn, there is a war on overseas! This is no time for "The Gawker cool guy" [Ed Note: Hasten Doree's gender transformation] to be shallow and petty about how The Politico is destroying everything the First Amendment holds dear. Cynicism is the end of us!

Has he been to New York City lately? If he had, he would know just how seriously we in Manhattan take the permanent war of on terror.

Oscar Nominee Javier Bardem's Work Speaks Volumes

Javier Bardem, the jig is up. For years, the Spaniard relied on a fallback line when American directors came calling: He simply didn't speak English. That's what he told Ethan and Joel Coen when they approached him about playing a stony, roaming, coin-tossing assassin in "No Country for Old Men."

But since nailing the role that has earned him a Golden Globe, a SAG Award and an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor, Bardem has conquered that linguistic beast, a stray grammatical error here or there notwithstanding.

San Marcos girls buckle down to empowerment

"I Am ... Enough" seminar held to inform students of their right to make good choices

When asked by keynote speaker Jennifer Seitel, many of the more than 200 teenage girls in attendance Saturday at the "I Am ... Enough" seminar at San Marcos High School raised a hand to acknowledge that they had not used a seat belt in the past month. The response didn't surprise Seitel, 30, who tours the country warning students of the tragic results of not buckling up.

As a 16-year-old, Seitel was injured in an automobile crash that left her a paraplegic. Her appearance at the seminar and her no-holds-barred presentation illustrated ---- sometimes graphically ---- the consequences of unwise decisions made by too many young people.

Lisa Stout, a counselor at the school and an event organizer, said the focus of "I Am ...

UPI NewsTrack Entertainment News

The star-studded Internet sensation was retaliation for a similar video Kimmel's girlfriend comedian Sarah Silverman made with Affleck's best friend Matt Damon.

Affleck told Entertainment Weekly that when it came to lining up other stars to appear with him and Kimmel in the comedy video, Harrison Ford topped his list.

"(The executive producer of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live') called me back 10 minutes later, 'We got Harrison Ford!' And I was like: 'What? Harrison Ford said yes?' He was awesome. I think people were naturally a little bit intimidated by him, and didn't want to push him at all," Affleck said.

"He saw his wardrobe looked kind of normal and was like, 'Don't we have anything here that's mesh?' That beat gets the biggest laugh in the whole video, where he's got his chain and he's in the convertible and he blows a kiss.

Reporter: Susan Ramsett

The death of Chicago news anchor Randy Salerno is receiving national attention after a snowmobile accident in Vilas County. The 45-year old Salerno died January 24 after a crash near Sayner. The driver he was riding with, Scott Hirschey is now facing charges of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. A criminal complaint says Hirschey's blood alcohol level was .22% four hours after the crash. The legal limit to drive in Wisconsin is .08.

So far this season 15 people have died in snowmobile accidents in Wisconsin - and alcohol is believed to have been a factor in 10 of those 15 deaths.

Whenever the topic of drinking and snowmobiling comes up - fingers point in lots of different directions. Should there be stricter laws and stiffer penalties? Should there be more authorities patrolling the trails? Can we blame the bartenders who serve the drinks? Or is it a matter of personal responsiblity - resting entirely on the shoulders of those who drink and drive? Maybe think drinking and snowmobiling isn't a problem at all.

Real-life experiences, really well done

Some musicals only improve with age. Our own age, that is.

The first time Jerry Colbert listened to "Closer Than Ever," just after the revue's 1989 off-Broadway premiere, he thought it was ... OK.

"Now, I think, `How could I not have loved this show?!' " says Colbert, a Charlotte-based actor/singer featured in Collaborative Arts' current staging at Spirit Square. Maturity, Colbert explains with a shrug, has added him to the show's passionate fan base among theater insiders.

"It's filled with humanity," says Colbert, describing "Closer Than Ever" as a series of entertaining and often moving observations on a range of experiences, from dating to parenthood to the loss of a spouse. "All the songs address real-life situations that I think anyone who's achieved a certain age will relate to."

The show, by songwriting team David Shire and Richard Maltby Jr.
