David Copperfield's reps have just issued a statement to TMZ, claiming the documents we posted yesterday were the subject of an extortion attempt against the magician.The document -- titled "Show Participation" -- outlines intricate steps Copperfield's assistants are required to follow in order to help David meet attractive women at his shows. The women are told about David's islands in the Bahamas and prospects for employment. David Chesnoff, Copperfield's lawyer, issued a statement to TMZ: "Recently, Mr. Copperfield was the victim of an unsuccessful extortion attempt by a disgruntled former employee. The Sk8er Boy singer and husband Deryck Whibley were spotted shopping at Los Angeles baby store Petit Tresor on Monday as well as exclusive boutiques Kitson for Kids and Lisa Kline Kids. During their spree in Petit Tresor, the couple reportedly purchased a cheetah diaper bag, baby AC/DC T-shirts and a pacifier holder. The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society is refusing to meet Japanese conditions for the release of Australian Benjamin Potts and Briton Giles Lane, who have been detained on board the Yushin Maru No. 2 after boarding the ship late on Tuesday. Glenn Inwood, spokesman for the Japanese whaling research authority, the Institute of Cetacean Research (ICR), said if the activists would not agree to the men's release on the ICR's terms it was up to the Australian Government to retrieve them. Failing that, the men would remain on the ship for the duration of the kill and be taken to Japan to face charges of piracy. Under the ICR's conditions for the men's release, the Sea Shepherd's ship the Steve Irwin must remain 10 nautical miles from the whaling vessel and the two detainees would be transferred to a Zodiac inflatable boat, he said.
